URW Learn Tutorial

This is what we will be making

Moderate level - Some knowledge of PSP is needed.

Materials Needed

Paint Shop Pro (used Version 9, but can be done on any version)
Tube by UnrulyWitch, who is an FTU licensed artist at Mistaken Art (MTA) HERE

Filters Needed:
Mosaic Glass (comes with PSP)
Distort - Radial Zig Zag (freeware, HERE)
Mura Meister - Copies (freeware, HERE)
AAA Foto Frame (freebie)
Eye Candy 5 Impact - Gradient Glow

Fonts used:
FFF Fuego (for copyright info)
Quasart (for name - freeware)

Additional supplies: HERE
(wordart from Scrappy Expressions - Melissa, now known as Sentimental Style, and cross hatch texture - put in your texture folder in PSP)

Directions

1. Open PSP. Open New File, 600 pixels x 250 pixels, 72 pixels/inch resolution, transparent. Open your tube, duplicate, close the original.

2. Chose a dark color from the tube for your foreground, a light color for your background. Using those colors, chose gradient from the materials palette, and the cross-hatch texture. You want to use the following settings for your gradient:

Style: radial
Angle: 45
Radial: 5
Invert: checked
Horizontal: 50
Vertical: 50

Texture: checked
have the Hatch Fine showing in your drop down menu

click OK

Flood fill your layer with the gradient. Right click on the layer in the layer palette - go to Merge - Merge All - Flatten.

3. Go to Effects - Texture Effects - Mosaic Glass and use the following settings:

4. Go to Distort - Radial Zig Zag and use the following settings:

Roughness: 0
Amplitude: 118
Frequency: 155

5. Copy and paste your tube, then move to the left side of the layer. Duplicate, and move that to the right side. Merge Down, then duplicate it twice (so you will have 3 - the original and 2 copies). Close out the top of them - you will work on the middle and bottom. Resize the middle one (the top of the unhidden) by 85% (all layers UNchecked). Go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur and use the following setting: Radius: 2.00. Go to the original and go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur and use the following setting: Radius 6.00. Then, for each, go to the layer palette, right click on it, and apply the following settings:

Blend Mode: Luminance (Legacy)
Opacity: 50
Link Set: 0

6. Go to the hidden duplicated layer and unhide it. Apply the Mura Meister - Copies filter with the following settings:

Random
Wraparound
Blend Mode
*Wallpaper
Number: 20
Shift X / Shift Y: 50
Angle / Rotation / Phase: 0
Cycle: 100
Attenuation: 0
Scale: 100
Tile Gap / Thru BG Range: 0
Thru BG Smooth: 30
Fade Out: 0
Fade Out to BG: unchecked

Click OK. Go to the layer palette, right click on it, and apply the following settings:

Blend Mode: Luminance (Legacy)
Opacity: 20
Link Set: 0

7. Apply tube, move it to the right side of the tag (or place as desired). Apply favorite drop shadow setting.

8. Copy and paste wordart, place on the left side of the tag. Apply Eye Candy 5 Impact - Gradient Glow with the following settings:

Glow Type: Outside Glow
Mask Selection: checked
Glow Radius: 11.00
Soften Corners: 35
Overall Opacity: 100
Distortion Amount: 0
Distortion Lump Size: 100
Gradient Smoothness: 92

move the slider to where you like it - try not to make it too 'fat'.
I used a very very pale shade of the light color I used for my gradient.

Then apply the following drop shadow to the wordart:

Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 50
Blur: 2.00
Color: very very dark shade of the dark color you used for your gradient.
Apply drop shadow AGAIN.

9. Duplicate the wordart. Go to the lower layer of the word art, then go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur and use the following setting: Radius 3.00. Then go to the layer palette, right click on it, and apply the following settings:

Blend Mode: Multiply
Opacity: 100
Link Set: 0

10. Go to Edit - Copy Merged - Paste as New Image. Apply the AAA Frames - Foto Frame and use the following settings:

Width: 4
Brightness: -48
Stroke: 0
Matte: 1
Red: 18 (*)
Green: 11 (*)
Blue: 2 (*)
Opacity: 98
Negative: unchecked
More Shadow: checked

(*) keep in mind that these will be flexible, depending on the colors you are using...these are what I used for mine.

11. Crop tag to 600 pixels wide, 250 pixels high. Apply © information and place where desired. (I used the previous gradient glow setting on my © info, then used Luminance Legacy with Opacity of 85 on it.)

And that is it for the forum tag. For the icon tag, simply take your selection tool, and mark out a large square around the area of the forum tag that you desire (I used the angel/tube, put it kind of to the right of the square.) Make sure the box is nice and big. Copy Merged then Paste as new image. Apply the AAA Frames - Foto Frame filter with the previous settings, then put the proper © information on it.

For the name and the initial for the icon, I used the font Quasart, with the dark shade of the dark color used for the gradient. I then applied Eye Candy 5 Impact Gradient Glow with the following settings:

(I used the lighter shade of my gradient for the first color, and the darker shade of my gradient for the second color)

And then the following drop shadow:

Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 50
Blur: 4.00
color: black
And then applied it AGAIN.

I saved my final tag/icon as jpg.

And that is it!!

County Fair Tutorial

This is the tag we will be making:

Moderate level - Some knowledge of PSP is needed.

Materials Needed

Paint Shop Pro (used Version 9, but can be done on any version)
PTU kit called County Fair by Designs by Tishia which can be bought at TKO Scraps
(*I used a full size kit - not available in tagger size - so the resizing will be a bit large*)
"Orange Juice" Tube by Popeye Wong which is Free To Use and can be found here (thanks Popeye!)

Filters Needed:
Blinds (comes with PSP)
Filters Unlimited 2 - Paper Textures

Fonts used:
FFF Fuego (for copyright info)
Cartoon Bold (for name/text)

Directions

1. Open PSP. Also open your mask and minimize it in PSP.
2. Open Paper 5 and resize to 600 pixels x 600 pixels (resize all layers checked be sure to change the resolution from 300 ppi to 72 ppi). Go to Filters Unlimited 2 - Paper Textures - Fibrous Paper, Fine and use the following settings:

Intensity: 92
Lightness: 128

3. Open Paper 10 - copy and paste as new layer then resize it by 20% (be sure 'all layers' is UNchecked). Feel free to close out the original.

4. Go to Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image and use the following settings:

right click on the layer in the layer palette, go to Merge - Merge Group. Rename this layer "Mask". Resize by 105% (be sure 'all layers' is UNchecked). Go to Effects - Texture Effects - Blinds and apply the following settings:

Width: 5
Opacity: 85
Color: #db9425
Horizontal: not checked
Light from left/top: not checked

Right click on the mask layer, go to Properties and apply the following settings:

Blend Mode: Screen
Opacity: 90
Link set: 0
Layer is visible: checked
Lock transparency: not checked
Highlight in layers palette: not checked

5. Copy and paste frame 1. Resize by 17% (be sure 'all layers' is UNchecked) and then resize it again by 80%. (Do not apply drop shadow to frame at this time - it can be applied later. Putting it on now will affect the look of step #5.).

6. Copy and paste flags, resize by 17% (be sure 'all layers' is UNchecked), then rotate going to Image - Rotate - Free Rotate with the following settings:

Direction: Left
Degrees: Free - 20.00
All Layers: not checked
Rotate Single Layer Around Canvas Center: not checked

position it like I have on my tag, then move to top and close out layer. Go back to the frame layer, make it active, then click on the OUTSIDE of the frame with your magic wand. You should now have marching ants. Go back to the flags layer, make it active and unhide it, then hit your delete button. Go to Selections - Select None. Copy and paste one of the flowers (I used flower 1) and resize it by 35% (be sure "resize all layers" is UNchecked), and then move it to just above the frame layer. Apply the following drop shadow:

Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 100
Blur: 10.00
Color: #513407 *this is a darker shade of my frame - if you use the other frame, choose a very dark shade blue that complements the frame
Shadow on New Layer: not checked

(I applied this drop shadow twice)

7. Copy and paste the box, resize it by 25% (be sure 'all layers' is UNchecked) and place it to the right, inside of the frame, but above the flag layer. Copy and paste your tube, resize it by 75% (be sure 'all layers' is UNchecked) and place her on the right so she is sitting on the box. Sharpen, if needed. Feel free to apply your favorite drop shadow to the flags, box and tube.

8. At this point, apply the following drop shadow to the frame:

Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 90
Blur: 10.00
Color: #5e1504 *this is a darker shade of my flower - if you use a different flower, choose a very dark shade of the flower petals
Shadow on New Layer: not checked

And then apply the drop shadow AGAIN (so you will be using the drop shadow twice on the flower).

9. Copy and Paste the sun, resize by 8% (be sure 'resize all layers' is UNchecked). Move to upper left side of area, inside frame (see my tag for idea). Move it just under the flag layer then apply your favorite drop shadow.

10. Take one of the bows (I used bow 1) and copy and paste as new layer, resize by 10% (be sure 'resize all layers' is UNchecked), and move it to the top right area of flags, behind her head, moving the layer just above the flags layer. Again, feel free to apply your favorite drop shadow on this. Do the same thing for the Carnival Fair sign (I resized by 8%) and place it like I have on my tag.

11. Copy and paste the single green "admit one" ticket, resize by 5% (be sure 'resize all layers' is UNchecked), duplicate, and then rotate (Image - Rotate - Free Rotate) the bottom one with the following settings:

Direction: Right
Degrees: 90.00
All Layers: not checked
Rotate Single Layer Around Canvas Center: not checked

And then rotate the other ticket with the following settings:

Direction: Right
Degrees: Free - 35.00
All Layers: not checked
Rotate Single Layer Around Canvas Center: not checked

Apply favorite drop shadow then click on the top ticket in the layer palette. Right click on it then go to Merge - Merge Down, then apply a slight drop shadow on the merged tickets. Move it to just under the Carnival Fair sign (see my tag for idea).

12. Copy and paste one of the lollipops (I used the green one), resize by 10% (all layers UNchecked). Then rotate using these settings:

Direction: Right
Degrees: Free - 15.00
All Layers: not checked
Rotate Single Layer Around Canvas Center: not checked

Apply your favorite drop shadow then move under the Carnival sign with the tickets. Copy and paste the Cotton Candy, resize by 6% (all layers UNchecked) and then rotate it with the following settings:

Direction: Right
Degrees: Free - 25.00
All Layers: not checked
Rotate Single Layer Around Canvas Center: not checked

Apply your favorite drop shadow then move under the Carnival sign below the lollipop layer.

13. Copy and paste the Ferris Wheel, resize by 10% (all layers UNchecked) and then by 50%, and move it to the left side, just over the Carnival Fair sign layer. Copy and paste one of the boys (I used boy 2) and resize by 10% (all layers UNchecked), moving it to the left, just above the ferris wheel layer. Do the same thing with one of the girls (I used the brown haired girl). Apply your favorite drop shadow or use the one I've been using which are these settings:

Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 75
Blur: 12.00
Color: black
Shadow on New Layer: not checked

14. At this point, if you would like to add any additional elements, feel free to do so. When satisfied, Merge Visible, and resize it to 485 pixels x 485 pixels ("resize all layers" should be checked). Sharpen if needed.

15. Add your copyright information, scrapper's information, your watermark and anything else you need.

16. Add name, placing it in the center of the bottom area of the frame (see my tag for idea).

And you are done!!

For the Love of Alysia Tutorial

This is the tag we will be making:

Moderate level - Some knowledge of PSP is needed.

Materials Needed:
Paint Shop Pro (used Version 9, but can be done on any version)
PTU kit "Alysia" by Designs by Tishia which can be bought at Scrappin Bratz
Posers used from the kit, by Medi
Mask #03 by Yez

Filters Needed:
Blinds (comes with PSP)
Optional Filter: Eye Candy 5 Impact Gradient Glow (used for my name/text)

Fonts used:
FFF Professional (for copyright info)
Mrs Blackfort (for name/text)

Please note that I will give the drop shadow settings that I have used HOWEVER feel free to use your own settings if you would like.

1. Open PSP. Open New File: 600 pixels x 600 pixels, 72.000 pixels/inch resolution, transparent. At this time, also open your mask and minimize in PSP.

2. Open Paper 3... copy & paste it as new layer. Resize it 75%, be sure "resize all layers" is UNchecked. Go to Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image and use these settings:

Go to your layer palette, right click on the background paper layer, then go to Merge - Merge Group. Duplicate layer, then go the bottom duplicate and go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur with a blur of 25.00, click OK. Go to the top of the 2 and apply the following drop shadow:

Vertical and Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 75
Blur: 8.00
Color: black
Shadow on new layer: unchecked

3. Open one of the frames in the kit (I used Frame 3). Copy and paste as new layer then resize it 60% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked). It should already be centered within the stars from the mask, which is good because that is where you want it. Feel free to apply your favorite drop shadow at this point (or wait til end and apply as desired).

4. Open one of the hearts in the kit (I used heart 3). Copy and paste as new layer then resize it 90% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked). The go to Image, Rotate - Free Rotate and use these settings:

Direction: left
Degrees: free, 25.00
All Layers: unchecked
Rotate single layer around cavas: unchecked

then move the heart to just below the frame layer and center and sharpen, as needed.

5. Open one of the swirls in the kit (I used swirl 1). Copy and paste as new layer then resize it 85% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked). Move this to just above the blurred mask layer. Apply following drop shadow settings:

Vertical and Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 75
Blur: 4.00
Color: black
Shadow on new layer: unchecked

6. Move heart (my heart 3) to above the frame, and resize it by 85% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked). Click on the inside of the heart with your magic wand. Go to Selections - Modify - Expand ....by 5.00 pixels - click ok.

7. Copy and paste one of the tubes you are using (you will want one with a close up of the face, or a clear image of the face - I used thefallen3). Copy and paste, then center it above the heart (resize as needed too). When you are satisfied, go to Selections - Invert and then click on the Delete key. Go to Selections - Select None. Go to the layer palette and right click on the layer with the face. Go to Properties and use these settings:

Blend Mode: Luminance (Legacy)
Opacity: 75%
Link Set: 0
Layer is Visible: checked
Lock transparency: unchecked
Highlight in layers palette: unchecked

8. Copy and paste poser thefallen5. Go to Image - Mirror. Resize by 60% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked) then move it around so that she is standing to the left of the heart (see my tag for placement idea). Apply your favorite drop shadow setting.

9. Go to the blurred mask layer, make active. Go to Effects - Texture Effects - Blinds and apply these settings:

Width: 5
Opacity: 85
Color: black
Horizontal: unchecked
Light from left/top: unchecked

10. At this point, continue to decorate the tag as desired with supplied elements. When you are satisfied, resize to 500 pixels x 500 pixels, "all layers" CHECKED. Feel free to use the crop tool to crop out any additional edges from the tag.

11. Apply crediting information and watermark. Apply and desired drop shadows to the layers. When satisfied, merge visible. Apply name text and then you are done!

Shamrock Pixie Tutorial

This is the tag we will be making

Moderate level - Some knowledge of PSP is needed.

Materials Needed

Please note that I will give the drop shadow settings that I have used HOWEVER feel free to use your own settings if you would like.

1. Open PSP. Open New File: 600 pixels x 600 pixels, 72.000 pixels/inch resolution, transparent. At this time, also open your mask and minimize in PSP.

2. Open one of the frames in the kit (I used Frame04). Copy and paste as new layer on your blank "new file" then resize it 80% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked). Copy and paste Paper14 as new layer then resize it 70% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked). Move to just below your frame layer. Click inside the frame making sure that the entire area inside is clicked, then close off the frame layer, then make the paper layer active. Go to Selections - Select All, Selections - Float, Selections - Defloat. The go to Selections - Modify - Expand - by 10 pixels - then click OK. Go to Selections - Invert and then click your Delete key. Selections - Select None and then click on the frame layer, making it visible again. Go to Selections - Select All, Selections - Float, Selections - Defloat then apply your Xero/Porcelain effect using the following settings:

Go to Selections - Select None (to remove marching ants).

3. Copy and paste Paper14 as new layer then resize it 75% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked). Move to just below your frame background layer. Go to Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image and apply these settings:

Go to the layer palette - right click on the "Group - Raster 2" layer, Merge - Merge Group. Feel free to close the mask that you have minimized.

4. Copy and paste one of the pixies (I used Pixie01) as new layer then resize it 35% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked). Move to top in the layer palette. Move to left side of tag (see my tag for idea).

5. Copy and paste the mushroom as new layer then resize it 25% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked). Move to just below the pixie layer. Duplicate then resize the duplicate by 75% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked), then place them as shown on tag. Do the same thing with one of the chests (I used Chest02) - resize to 35% instead, and do not duplicate - and move that to the layer between the pixie and the mushroom.

6. Copy and paste one of the swirls (I used Swirl01) as new layer then resize it 60% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked). Move it to layer just under the mushroom, then place it behind his head (as shown on tag). Duplicate swirl, then go to Image - Flip, then Image - Mirror. Move the swirl around til it is placed somewhat on the right bottom of the frame (see my tag for idea). If desired, resize the bottom swirl by 85% - some of it still might run off the area, that is ok. Use Eye Candy 5 Impact, Gradient Glow and these settings:

7. Copy and paste Splatter01 as new layer then resize it 60% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked). Move to just below your frame layer, then move it around so it is somewhat centered under the frame. Go to Effects - Texture Effects - Blinds and use the following settings:

width: 5
opacity: 25
color: black
horizontal: unchecked
light from left/top: unchecked

Then go to Adjust - Brightness and Contrast - Brightness/Contrast and use these settings:

brightness: 15
contrast: 0

Go to Eye Candy Impact, Gradient Glow and use the previous settings.

8. Copy and paste Shamrocks01 as new layer then resize it 50% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked) then go to Image - Rotate - Free Rotate using these settings:

Direction: right
Degrees: 90
All Layers: unchecked
Rotate Single layer around canvas center: unchecked

Center it (somewhat) within the frame, as seen on my tag. Sharpen, if needed.

9. Copy and paste Grass03 as new layer then resize it 40% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked), then place it just above the mushroom layer.

10. Copy and paste Flower07 as new layer then resize it 35% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked), then place it just above the top swirl layer, as seen on the tag.

11. Apply drop shadow to all layers (except mask layer and pixie layer) with these settings - or your preferred settings:

vertical: 2
horizontal: 0
opacity: 75
blur: 7.00
color: black
shadow on new layer: unchecked

(note: on frame layer, I applied the drop shadow twice)

On the pixie layer, use the following settings:

vertical: 0
horizontal: 0
opacity: 70
blur: 20.00
color: black
shadow on new layer: unchecked

(note: I didn't apply a drop shadow on the mask layer, however you may if you prefer.)

12. At this point, feel free to decorate further, using elements in the kit. When you have it all decorated, go to you layer palette, right click, then Merge - Merge Visible all the layers. Then resize to 450 pixels x 450 pixels - all layers checked. Go to Adjust - Sharpen. (You might need to do this more than once.)

13. Apply copyright information and tagger watermark. (I used Pixelette for mine.)

14. Merge Visible, save in .png format (to retain background transparency).

15. Apply name and place in center of bottom of frame area (see my tag for idea). For mine I used the font Doodle Journal, with #33582a as my foreground and background colors. I did stroke 3.0 and size 48 on the font, and used the following Eye Candy 5 Impact - Gradient Glow settings:

and then did the following drop shadow settings:

Vertical: 2
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 75
Blur: 8.00
Color: Black
Shadow on New Layer: Not checked

Atomic Bop Tutorial

This is the tag we will be making:

Filters Needed: Eye Candy 4000 Glass and Eye Candy 5 Impact Gradient Glow
Fonts used: copy 10_56 (for copyright info), Tattoo Ink (for name/text)

1. Open PSP. Open tag template, click on Shift +D to duplicate, then close original. Delete the crediting layer. At this time, also open your mask and minimize in PSP.
3. Go to AB-Paper 10 from the kit - Copy, then go to the template and Paste as New Layer right above the Bars layer. Rename it Paper 10. Resize (Image - Resize) 65%, All Layers UNchecked.
3. Make Bars layer active then go to Selections - Select All.... Selections - Float .... Selections - Defloat. You will now have marching ants around the bars. Make the Paper 17 layer active by clicking on it.
4. Selections - Invert. Click on the Delete Button. Paper 10 should now be where the bars now are/were. Go to Selections - Invert. Now the inside of the bars is active again.
5. Apply the following drop shadow:

Vertical and Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 75
Blur: 12.00
Color: black
Shadow on new layer: unchecked

Go to Selections - Select None. Delete the bars layer.

6. Go to AB-Paper 15 from the kit - Copy, then go to the template and Paste as New Layer right above the Circle layer. Rename it AB-Paper 15. Resize (Image - Resize) 65%, All Layers UNchecked.
7. Make Circle layer active then go to Selections - Select All.... Selections - Float .... Selections - Defloat. You will now have marching ants around the circle. Make the Paper 15 layer active by clicking on it.
8. Selections - Invert. Click on the Delete Button. Paper 15 should now be where the bars now are/were. Go to Selections - Invert. Now the inside of the circle is active again.
9. Apply the following drop shadow:

Vertical and Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 75
Blur: 12.00
Color: black
Shadow on new layer: unchecked

Go to Selections - Select None. Delete the circle layer.

10. Click on the crop tool and go to Merged Opaque. Move the cropping window around so you crop away the drop shadowing along the outer edges of the template. Click the check mark to crop.

11. Make Notes layer active then go to Selections - Select All.... Selections - Float .... Selections - Defloat. You will now have marching ants around the notes. Add new raster layer right above the notes layer, then flood fill with the gradient teom_085. (In the gradient palette, use these settings: Angle 45, repeats 6, radial).
12. Using Eye Candy 4000, Glass, apply these settings:

Use the following drop shadow:

Vertical and Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 75
Blur: 8.00
Color: black
Shadow on new layer: unchecked

13. Do the same thing with the stars, using gradient teom_130. (The only change is, when using the Eye Candy 4000 filter, change the bevel profile to button.)
14. Click on the background layer. Take a paper of your choice (I used AB-Paper 12) and copy and paste as new layer just above the background layer. Resize (Image - Resize) 70%, All Layers UNchecked. Go to Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image and use these settings:

11. Go to Layer Palette, click on the Group - Raster 3. "Right click", go to Merge - Merge Group. Resize (Image - Resize) 110%, All Layers UNchecked. Apply drop shadow used on papers layer.
12. Copy and paste poser from kit - place it in the center of the tag. Resize (Image - Resize) 70%, All Layers UNchecked. Line up her legs along the lower areas of the bars. (see my tag for idea) Move the poser layer to just under the Words layer.
13. Do with the words layer the same steps you took for the stars. (You might need to zoom in to flood fill the letters. If you do, remember to zoom back to 100% when you are done.) When done, go to Eye Candy 5 Impact, Gradient Glow and apply the following settings:

Apply the following drop shadow:

Vertical and Horizontal: 1
Opacity: 75
Blur: 5.00
Color: black
Shadow on new layer: unchecked

14. At this point, apply elements as desired. (You may need to move your poser around - do so as needed/desired.)
15. Apply © information, scrap designer, tagger watermark on new layer. When happy with the look, merge visible.
16. Apply name/text to tag.

Popeye Love Tutorial

Hello and welcome! This is the tag we will be making today:

Now, it can be made either animated or non-animated. The animated directions are towards the bottom, after the **.

Moderate level - Some knowledge of PSP is needed.

Materials Needed

Paint Shop Pro & Animation Shop (used PSP9 and AS3, but can be done on any version)
PTU kit called Game of Love by Staceys Designs which can be bought at Katelynn's Designs
Tubes by Popeye Wong which are Free To Use and can be found here (thanks Popeye!)

Filters Needed:

Xenofex 2 – Constellation

Filters Unlimited 2 (Paper Textures)

Fonts used:

FFF Professional (for copyright info)

Doodle Journal (for name/text)

Directions

1. Open PSP. Open New File, 600 pixels x 600 pixels, 72.000 resolution, transparent. (Don't worry if it looks too big now, we can crop it down later.) Also open your mask and minimize it in PSP.

2. Copy and paste the triple circle frame, do your best to center it. Feel free to close out the original.

3. Taking your preset shape tool, choose the ellipse (not the circle, but the oval), foreground and background medium gray, line width 2.0, draw an oval over one of the circles in the frame, like this:

Be sure that the edges of the gray ellipse/oval shape is wider than the inner space of the frame area. Once you have it how you want it, convert layer to raster. Duplicate it twice, then move them so you have an oval under each of the oval areas of the frame. We will be using these gray ovals as a template of sorts for the background and the pictures/tubes. Close all layers except the ones with the gray ovals, then merge visible, then move them under the frame layer. You can now unhide the other layers.

4. Copy and paste one of the papers from the kit (I am using Paper1). Feel Free to resize the paper (be sure 'all layers' is UNchecked ... I resized mine to 500 pixels x 500 pixels). Make the 3 oval layer active, then go to Selections - Select All.... Selections - Float.....Selections - Defloat. Go back to the paper layer, make active, then go to Selections - Invert, then click on the Delete key. You should now have the papers in the same area as the gray ovals. Move the paper layer below the frame layer but above the gray ovals layer.

5. Now, with the marching ants still active, copy and paste your tubes that you will be putting in the frames. When you are happy with how they are, just simply click the Delete key (since you have already Inverted the selection, it is set to delete everything outside of the frame area). Make sure that the image/tube layers are between the frame layer and the paper layer. Go to Selections - Select None.

6. Now, we have 2 frame areas that have doodles over them so we need to do something about it. Duplicate the images that are in that area, then move them above the frame layer. Take your eraser brush and use the following settings:

Shape: circle
Size: 25
Hardness: 100
Step: 25
Density: 100
Thickness: 100
Rotation: 0
Opacity: 100

You are going to delete the bottom area of the tubes that overlap the frame area, like this (feel free to zoom in on the area to help you see better):

7. Feel free to add drop shadows to your tubes (bottom images ONLY - don't add a drop shadow to the top ones that you erased), and feel free to add your favorite drop shadow on the frame.

8. Go to the paper layer and make active. Go to Filters Unlimited, then Paper Textures, and choose the Filter Paper option and use the following settings:

then click Apply. This will give some texture and definition to your frame's background. Don't worry about the outer edge that you might see - it will be gone when we crop down our final tag.
Close out the gray oval layer and the bottom layer (which should be blank) and Merge Visible everything else.

9. Move the frame up a little from the center. Take another paper and copy and paste it to the tag (I used Paper7), moving it below the frame. Resize it 600 pixels x 600 pixels (all layers UNchecked). Go to Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image and use these settings:

Merge Group. (Be sure you only merge the mask group - do not include the frame layer in this merge.) Move the frame and/or mask layer, if needed, so that the frame is centered on the oval slats. Unhide the very bottom layer and flood fill it with a complementing color from either one of your images/tubes or the kit (I am using color #ca7e9e).

10. Take the winged heart element and copy and paste it to your tag. Bring it to the top, and resize it by 75% (all layers UNchecked) and place it under the frame, centered. Apply your favorite drop shadow to it. Take the Forget Me Nots element, resize it by 75% (again, all layers UNchecked), and move it over to behind the left side picture in the frame (see my tag for idea). Duplicate flowers, then Mirror. Erase whatever is hanging over the bottom of the frame areas. Take your selection tool and choose the upper area of both of the flower layers. Go to Edit - Copy, Edit - Paste as New Layer. (You will need to do this twice - once for each flower layer.) If needed, place them directly over their corresponding flowers. (They may copy and paste right in the same area, in which case no moving is needed.) Move both of these above the frame layer, then erase all the parts that hang over the framed images. Apply your favorite drop shadow to the bottom flower layers (not the top ones that you erased).

11. Copy and paste the decorated flower, resize by 40% (all layers UNchecked). Sharpen, if necessary. Place it below the left frame oval area and bring to top. Apply the following drop shadow:

Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 75
Blur: 15.00
Color: black
Shadow on New Layer: not checked

Duplicate, then mirror. Delete the gray ovals layer. Crop your tag, like this:

then (if you wish to make this non-animated) Merge Visible. (If you wish to make this animated, do NOT merge visible.... go to directions, below, starting at the **.) Resize so that it is about 500 pixels wide. Apply copyright information and name/text, as shown in my tag at the top.

And you are done!

**To make tag animated**

1. If you wish to animate your tag like I have in my tag, first, close out the bottom layer and the slat/mask layer. Merge Visible all the other layers. Now unhide the bottom layer and slat/mask layer. Go to the mask layer (with the slats) and make active, then duplicate it twice (so you should have 3 layers of it). Make the top slat/mask layer active (will most likely be one of the copied layers). Go to Xenofex 2 - Constellation and use the following settings:

2. Then go to the middle mask layer, make active, then go to the Constellation filter again, this time hitting the "Random Seed" button twice, then "ok". Do the same thing to the bottom mask layer.

3. On a new raster layer, apply your copyright information, bring to top.

4. Ok, now - here comes the fun part. Close out the bottom 2 mask layers so that only the top one is showing. Go to Edit - Copy Merged ... Edit - Paste as New Image. Now, close out the top mask layer, and unhide the middle mask layer. Go to Edit - Copy Merged. Then go over to your other image and make it active (click on it) and go to Edit - Paste as New Layer. Now, go back to what you were working on, close out the middle mask layer and unhide the bottom one. Do the same thing that you did with the middle mask layer: Copy Merged, then go to the other image (which now has 2 layers) and click on it, then go to Edit - Paste as New Layer. You should now have 3 layers. This will be what you bring over to Animation Shop. Save as follows:

Now, in Animation Shop, go to File - Animation Wizard and choose the following when they come up:

*Same Size as the first image frame (next)
*transparent (next)
*Upper left corner of the frame, With the canvas color (next)
*Yes, repeat the animation indefinitely, 30 (next)

Click on "Add Image" and browse to where you saved your .psp file (be sure that "File Type" is for Paint Shop Pro Image). When you have it, click Next, then Finish. It will now open up your tag, in frames.
To check the speed of your animation, go to View - Animation. (Just click on the "X" in the upper right to stop the animation.) To Save this as a blank, go to File - Save As and save it in .gif format.

To add a name, go back to PSP and, on the top layer, apply text, and add any kind of effects you would like. When you have your name the way you like it, go to File - Copy. Then go back to Animation Shop and go to File - Paste as new animation. You are going to need 3 frames to match up the 3 frames of your animation. So go to Edit - Copy then Go to Edit - Paste After Current Frame (do this twice - to give you 3 frames of the name). Go to your tag, then go to Edit - Select All.... Edit Copy.... Edit - Paste as New Animation. Go to your names and go to Edit - Select All .... Edit Copy. Then go to your tag and go Edit - Select All, Edit - Paste Into Selected Frame. You will notice that you are able to move it around... do so until it is where you like it, then left click on your mouse - this will place it where you want it, in ALL the frames. When satisfied, save it as a .gif.

And you are done!!

I have a new tutorial for you all!! This is the tag we will be making:

Materials Needed

Tag Template #9 from Purple Dragonfly Creations

Filters Needed: Eye Candy 5 Impact - Gradient Glow, Tramages - Tow the Line, Filters Unlimited 2 (Paper Textures and Buttons & Frames)
Fonts used: Pixelette (for copyright info), ObetteScriptSSK

Directions

1. Open PSP
2. Copy Template then click on Shift + D to duplicate entire template. Close original template.
3. Open mask in PSP then minimize. We will be using it in a little bit.
4. Open Paper20 and copy and paste on to your template. Make the circle background layer active. Go to Selections - Select All... Selections - Float then Selections - Defloat. Click on the paper layer, then go to Selections - Invert then click on your delete button. Go to Selections - Select None.
5. Close out the Paper20 layer and make the circle background layer active again. Click on the outer black edge with your magic wand, then go to Adjust - Color Balance - Manual Color Correction and choose a color (dark) from the tube you are using. With the edge still selected, apply the following drop shadow:

Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 75
Blur: 8.00
color: Black
Shadow on New Layer: unchecked

Go to Selections - Select None.

6. Go back to the Paper20 layer, make active, then right click on it and go to Properties. Choose Overlay, Opacity 80 (everything else leave it as it is), then click OK.
7. Go to Love WordArt layer, make active. Go to Adjust - Color Balance - Manual Color Correction and change the color from black to white. Click OK.
8. Close out all the layers except the 4 rectangle layers. Merge Visible. Keeping that layer active, go to Selections - Select All... Selections - Float then Selections - Defloat. Copy and paste Paper11 on to the template, then make that layer active, then go to Selections - Invert then click on your delete button. Go to Eye Candy 5 Impact, Gradient Glow and use the following settings (note, the color I used is the same color I used for the outer edge of the circle background, earlier):

Go to Selections - Select None, then apply the following drop shadow:

Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 60
Blur: 15.00
color: Black
Shadow on New Layer: unchecked

Delete the 4 rectangles layer, then unhide the largest heart layer.
9. Click on the black egding of the largest heart layer and do to it what you did with the circle background, choosing a complementing color from your tube. Go to Selections - Select None. Using your magic wand, click on the inner part of the heart. Click delete (to remove the gray part of the heart). Go to Selections - Modify - Expand ... by 3 pixels, then click OK. Choose a paper (I am using Paper18) and copy and paste it on to the template. Go to Selections - Invert then click on your delete button. Move to just below your heart 'frame' that you have made. Keeping that background active and the marching ants on, copy and paste your tube to the template. Place it where you wish, then click delete (to remove the part of the tube outside of the area). Go to Selections - Select None to remove the marching ants. Apply your favorite drop shadow to the tube. Go back to the 'frame', apply the Tramages filter - Tow the Line with the default settings, then apply the following drop shadow settings:

Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 75
Blur: 8.00
color: Black
Shadow on New Layer: unchecked

With only those 3 layers open (all others hidden), go to Merge - Merge Visible.

Do the same thing with the other 2 hearts, keeping in mind that you can slightly alter the color for the heart 'frame' area to give it a different look. Feel free to also use different papers for the background and to mess around with the settings in Tramages.

Apply the following drop shadow on each finished heart:

Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 75
Blur: 15.00
color: Black
Shadow on New Layer: unchecked

10. Move the hearts around so they are to your liking. I just moved them out a little to the outer edges. Then I used on of the close up images of the tube and copied and pasted it to the top of my template, then resized it by 85%. I moved her so that she was slightly off to the left. I applied the same drop shadow that I did to the smaller tube images.

11. Clicking on the very bottom layer, copy and paste Paper23 on to the template. Bring to bottom, then apply the mask to that layer by going to Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image and use these settings:

Merge group. Apply a slight drop shadow to the mask.

Go back to the very bottom layer and flood fill with a very pale color from your tube. Go back to mask layer, and merge down. Go to Filters Unlimited 2 and go to Paper Textures, Canvas-Coarse and use these settings:

Intensity: 29
Lightness: 82

Click Apply. Then go in to Filters Unlimited 2 again, and go to Buttons and Frames, Glass Frame 2 and use these settings:

Frame size: 15
Contrast: 103

Click Apply.

12. Copy and paste Frame3 on to your template. Move it to under your 3 heart frames, then apply your favorite drop shadow.
13. Use additional elements to decorate your tag.
14. When you are happy with your tag, merge visible, then resize it to 500 pixels x 401 pixels (be sure all layers is checked). Sharpen if needed.
15. Be sure to include copyright information on your tag.

For the name, I used color #4c1212 for both foreground and background, width 2.0, size 48, then applied Gradient Glow settings:

and the following drop shadow:

Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 1
Opacity: 65
Blur: 4.00
color: Black
Shadow on New Layer: unchecked

This is the tag we will be making:

Materials Needed

1. Open PSP. Open New File: 600 pixels x 600 pixels, 72.000 pixels/inch resolution, transparent. At this time, also open your mask and minimize in PSP.
2. Open Paper10, copy and paste as new layer onto 'new file'. Resize by 75%, all layers UNchecked. Go to Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image and apply these settings:

Go to the layer palette - right click on the "Group - Raster 2" layer, Merge - Merge Group. Feel free to close the mask that you have minimized.

2. Go to Effects - Texture Effects - Mosaic-Glass and apply these settings:

4. Select one of the round frames (I am using frame 01). Copy and paste as new image. Close original. Resize frame by 65% (all layers checked). Copy and paste as new layer on to your 'tag'. Move to the top if it isn't already there. Duplicate the frame, then resize by 90% (all layers UNchecked). Apply the following drop shadow to both frames:

5. Close out the "Group - Raster 2" layer, then make the layer with the smaller frame active. Using your magic wand tool, click inside the frame area. Go to Selections - Modify - Expand - by 20 pixels, then click "ok". Copy paper 17, then paste as new layer. Resize by 75% (all layers UNchecked). Go to Selections - Invert. Click on your "delete" key. Move to just under the larger frame. Go to Adjust - Brightness and Contrast - Brightness/Contrast and apply these settings:

Brightness: 90
Contrast: -25

Lower the layer opacity to 20.

6. Copy and paste (as new layer) Cutie Bug 01, then resize by 50% (all layers UNchecked), then again by 75% (all layers UNchecked). Center face in middle of frames. Click on your "delete" button. Go to the layer palette, right click on the layer with the face, and apply the following settings:

Go to Selections - Select None (to shut off the marching ants). Open your 2nd poser (I am using Cutie Bug 04). Copy and paste as new layer - resize as needed. Place above (on top) of the frame layers. Move it around, place as desired, then apply the following drop shadow settings:

Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 75
Blur: 20.00
Color: Black
Shadow on New Layer: Not checked

then apply the drop shadow again.

7. Close out all the layers EXCEPT the frame layers. Click on the outside of the largest frame, then go to Selections - Modify - Expand - by 18 pixels - click OK. The copy and paste as new layer one of the banner/wordart elements (I am using WA 01). Resize by 60% (all layers UNchecked), place as you see on the tag. Click on your "delete" key. Go to Selections - Select None. Apply drop shadow settings you used in step #6. Unhide all the closed layers.

8. Copy String 04 and paste as new layer. Resize by 45% (all layers UNchecked). Move it under your top poser AND the banner/wordart layer (see my tag for idea). With your eraser tool, delete the little bit of string that shows just beyond the frame in the bottom left area and the area inside the frame (see my tag for idea). Be careful NOT to erase any of the leaves, though! (You may need to zoom in and out to do this - I did.)

Apply the following drop shadow settings:

Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 1
Opacity: 75
Blur: 10.00
Color: Black
Shadow on New Layer: Not checked

9. Copy Bow 14, then resize by 45% (all layers UNchecked), then resize it again by 45%. Place it to the right of the banner. Apply drop shadow used in #8. Duplicate, then mirror. Move top tube to top layer (so that bow will end up being behind her).

10. At this point, feel free to decorate further, using elements in the kit. When you have it all decorated, close out the bottom layer and the "Group - Raster 2" layer, then Merge - Merge Visible all the other layers. Then resize by 85% (all layers UNchecked), then unhide the 2 closed off layers. Merge - Merge Visible (all 3 layers). Resize: 475 pixels x 475 pixels - all layers checked. Go to Adjust - Sharpen - Sharpen.

11. Apply copyright information and tagger watermark. (I used Pixelette for mine.)

12. Merge Visible, save in .png format (to retain background transparency).

13. Apply name and place under the main poser. For mine I used the font Walrus Gumbo, with black as my foreground color and #b31317 as my background color. I did stroke 2.0 and size 42 on the font, and used the following Eye Candy 5 Impact - Gradient Glow settings:

and then did the following drop shadow settings:

Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 0

This is what we will be making:

Materials Needed

PTU kit for Crazed's Creations called "Beauty of the Beach - Tagger" which can be bought at Scrappin' Bratz
Monti's Mask - blindsmask1

Filters Needed:
Blinds (comes with PSP)
Xero Porcelain - freeware
Eye Candy 5 Impact - Gradient Glow

Fonts used:
FFF Fuego (for copyright info)
Kamp Friendship (for name/text - paid font)

Directions

1. Open PSP. Open New File, 600 pixels x 600 pixels, 72 pixels/inch resolution, transparent. Open your mask, and minimize in PSP.

2. Copy and paste paper6, then resize it 75% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked). Do the same thing for paper4. Rename the water layer "water", and rename the sand layer "sand".

3. Making the water layer active, go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur and apply the following settings: radius: 4.00 then click OK.

4. Making the sand layer active, then go to Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image and use the following settings:

Merge - Merge Group.

5. Copy and paste frame5 and center it over the mask area. Rename this layer "frame". Using the magic wand tool, click on the inside of the frame. Go to Selections - Modify - Expand and expand by 15 pixels. Click on OK. Choose a paper for the background to your frame (I chose paper16) then copy and paste it to your 'tag', then resize it 70% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked). Go to Selections - Invert, then hit your Delete button. Move this layer to just under the frame layer and rename frame background. While you still have the marching ants on, copy and paste your tube and center it in the middle of the frame. Go to Selections - Modify - Contract and contract by 15 pixels. Click on the Delete button to remove all areas outside of the selected area. Go to Selections - Select None (to remove marching ants.) (If you have any stray areas outside of the selected area, just delete them with the eraser tool.) Rename this layer "tube" and move down to between the frame and frame background layers.

6. Go back to the frame background layer and make active. Go to Effects - Texture Effects - Blinds and use the following settings:

7. Go to frame layer and go to Selections - Select All, Selections - Float, Selections - Defloat. Apply the Porcelain effect with the following settings:

8. Go to tube layer and apply your preferred drop shadow settings.

9. Copy and paste on of the bows (I chose bow2). Move to top layer. Resize by 60% (be sure "all layers" is UNchecked). Move to the middle of the left side of frame (see my tag for idea). Duplicate, then mirror image. You should now have a ribbon on each side of the frame. Apply the following drop shadow to both bows:

Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 65
Blur: 10.00
Color: black
Shadow on new layer: unchecked

10. Copy and paste one of the starfish buttons (I chose button3). Resize by 80% (again, be sure "all layers" is UNchecked), and then move it over to the center part of the bow on the left side. When pleased, duplicate the button and mirror, so that you will now have one in the same area on the bow on the right side. Apply your favorite drop shadow settings to both buttons.

11. Use other elements (shells, starfish) to decorate as you desire.

12. Once you have it decorated as you desire, copy and paste one of the starfish tags (I chose starfishtag1), then resize it by 55% ("all layers" UNchecked), then place it on the left side of your tag, near the bow/button decoration. Duplicate the starfish tag, then move one of the copies to under your bow/button elements. Then, on the top one, you are going to take your eraser tool and erase the top part, like the area that is in the square:

You are going to want it to look like the string is coming from BEHIND the button, like this:

Add your preferred drop shadow to the bottom starfish tag.

13. When you have the tag looking how you want, resize it (all layers CHECKED), to 500 pixels x 500 pixels. Sharpen (Adjust - Sharpen) anything that might have become blurry in the resize.

14. Add your copyright information to your tag. Additionally, if you wish to crop any of the sides or top (if it seems to much to you), now is the time. (I cropped mine a little bit so the final tag ended up being 460 pixels x 489 pixels, and changed the properties on the copyright layer to "overlay".)

15. Merge All Visible and save as a .jpg

16. Add name, place in the starfish tag area. Go to Edit - Copy Merged and then save as jpg.

For text on tag, I used Kamp Friendship at size 14, 1.0 stroke, color #0d3044 for both foreground and background, rotated it 37 degrees to the left, then centered it in the starfish shape. Then I used Eye Candy 5 Impact - Gradient Glow with the following settings:

then applied the following drop shadow settings:

Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 1
Opacity: 65
Blur: 3.00
Color: black
Shadow on new layer: unchecked

And that is it!!

TUTORIAL: Penguin Parade

This is what we will be making:

Moderate level - Some knowledge of PSP is needed.

Materials Needed

Paint Shop Pro (used Version 9, but can be done on any version)
Animation Shop 3.0
PTU kit by Tamsin McAtee Studios ("Penguin Christmas, Tagger") which can be bought at Katelynn's Designs
Poser from Batschis Poserdesign (sak6) , received through her group HERE
Zuzzanna Mask "Winter" (8th from top)
Filters Used: Eye Candy 5 Impact - Gradient Glow
Other Supplies Needed: Animation, found HERE
Fonts used: FFF Fuego (for copyright info), ResPublica (for name/text)

Directions

1. Open PSP. Open a New File - 600 pixels x 600 pixels, 72.000 pixels per inch (resolution), transparent.

2. Open mask, then minimize. Open Paper 4, copy and paste as new layer on to your new file. Go to Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image and use these settings:

Right click on that layer in the layer palette. Merge - Merge Group. Rename this layer "mask". Close original paper.

3. Open frame 2. Copy and paste as new layer. Image - Resize - 75%, all layers UNchecked. Center the frame over the 'frame' part of the mask, as shown here:

Rename this layer "frame". Close original frame. With the frame layer still active, go to Effects - Eye Candy 5 Impact, Gradient Glow and use the following settings:

Apply the following drop shadow settings:

Vertical: 2
Horizontal: 1
Opacity: 75
Blur: 18.00
Color: black
Shadow on new layer: unchecked

4. Open Paper 3. Copy and paste as new image. Image - Resize - 600 pixels x 600 pixels, all layers checked. Copy and paste the resized paper to your tag. Right click on that layer
in the layer palette and bring layer to bottom (Arrange - Send to Bottom). Rename this "background". If you find you now have a spare (empty/blank) layer, feel free to delete it. Close original paper.

5. Go to Mask layer, right click on it, go to Properties, and use the following settings:

6. Open tube, then copy and paste as new layer on to your tag. Resize as needed. (Make sure "all layers" is UNchecked.) Right click on the layer, go to Arrange - Bring to Top. Move tube towards right side of red frame area (see my tag for idea). Rename layer "tube". Apply the drop shadow settings used earlier.

7. Open the igloo element. Copy and paste as new layer. Image - Resize - 45% - all layers UNchecked. Move to the lower left side of frame (see my finished tag for idea). Rename "igloo". Move this layer to just under the "tube" layer. Apply the same drop shadow settings on the igloo that you did on your tube. Close original igloo file.

8. Open one of the penguin elements (I chose the one with the green hat). Copy, paste as new layer. Image - Resize - 35% - all layers UNchecked. Move to in front of the igloo. Apply same drop shadow settings. Rename this "penguin1". Open another of the penguin elements and do the same thing, except move it to the lower right side of the tube. Rename this "penguin2". Close original penguin files.

9. Open Tree 1 element. Copy and paste as new layer. Move to under the 2 penguin layers. Apply previous drop shadow settings. Rename this layer "tree". Move the tree to the right of the tube. Close original element file.

10. Open flower 1 and flower 2 (elements). Copy one of them, then paste as new layer. Image - Resize - 85% - all layers UNchecked. Move it to the upper left corner of the frame. Apply the following drop shadow settings:

Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 75
Blur: 7.00
Color: black
Shadow on new layer: unchecked

Copy the other flower, then paste as new layer. Image - Resize - 60% - all layers UNchecked. Place over the other flower, but off to the side (see my tag for idea). Apply the drop shadow you did for other flower element. Rename the layers as "flower1" and "flower2", respectively. Close original element files.

Save your file as a .pspimage file. (You aren't done yet - this is just to save all that you have done so far, just in case!)

11. Open Animation Shop, then open the animation from the zip file in Animation Shop. Go to Edit - Select All. Edit - Copy. Then go BACK to Paint Shop Pro and go to Edit - Paste Animation as Multiple Images (see screenshot):

Each frame of the animation will now be open in PSP as an individual frame. The last frame in the animation (frame 10) will be on top so that frame 1 be at the bottom.

12. Go to Layers - New Raster Layer. On the new layer, take your selection tool, be sure it set on rectangle. With the tool, make a rectangle inside of the frame area. Close out ALL layers except the frame layer. Making sure you have the new raster layer active, go to Selections - Modify - Expand by 2. Click ok. Move the new raster layer just under the frame layer. This is where you are going to need to pay close attention to what you are doing.

13. Go to your materials palette. Click on the Pattern tab. Click on the little arrow next to the preview window to open up the thumbnails. You are going to want the image that corresponds to the "frame 10" of your animation (for me, it would be "image 18"). Click on it. Keep Angle at 0, Scale at 100. Click ok. Go to floodfill tool and floodfill the inside of your rectangle with the "pattern" (your snow). Rename this "snow 10". Close out this layer. Go to Layers - New Raster Layer. Move it to just above the "snow10" layer. Go back to your materials palette and click the image prior to the one you just did (for me it would be "image 17"). Flood fill the inside of your rectangle with this pattern, rename the layer "snow 9" then close out the layer. Do this for each frame of the animation so that you will end up having 10 "snow" layers (with the layers renamed "snow" 1-10). Go to Selections - Select None to get rid of the marching ants from your rectangle.

Your layer palette should look something like this:

14. Open all the layers up EXCEPT the snow layers 2 through 10 (keep them closed for now). At this point, if you want to add any additional elements to your tag, feel free to do so.

15. When done, go to Resize - 500 pixels x 500 pixels - all layers CHECKED. Feel free to sharpen each layer, if needed.

16. When done, add copyright/crediting information.

17. Now... we are going to make our file for our animation. Pay attention to detail, take your time. All your layers should be open EXCEPT snow 2-10 layers. With the snow 1 layer open, go to Edit - Copy Merged, Edit - Paste as New Image. Then go back to our "template" and close the snow 1 layer, and open the snow 2 layer. Go to Edit - Copy Merged. Then go to the new image and click on Edit - Paste as new Layer. Go back to the 'template' and close snow 2, and open snow 3. Go to Edit - Copy Merged. Then go to the new image and click on Edit - Paste as new Layer. Do this for each snow layer. When you are done you should have 10 layers (1 with each snow layer on it). Save as .psp (Animation Shop) file (will be at the very top of the drop down menu when you click on Save As).

Go back to Animation Shop. Go to File - Animation Wizard - use following settings:

window 1: Same size as the first image frame (next)
window 2: transparent (next)
window 3: upper left corner of the frame, with the canvas color (next)
window 4: Yes, repeat the animation indefinetely, with a setting on 10 (next)
window 5: click on "add image" then browse to where you saved the .psp file, click on it, then click the "open" button - you will see the file show up on the list. Click "next", then "finish". The animation will now open up in Animation Shop. To preview it, go to View - Animation. If you need to fiddle with the speed of the animation (for the falling snow), this is the time to do it. Once you are satisfied, save it as a .gif.

18. Go to Paint Shop Pro. Add text (name) to template. Add any effects, as desired. (I am using Gradient Glow with previously used settings). Once I have the text looking like I want, I go to Edit - Copy (*not* Copy Merged)..... then go back to Animation Shop and go to Edit - Paste - Paste as new animation (or, Control + V, if using a shortcut). Now, because I have 10 frames to my tag, I will need 10 frames of my name. So I will click on Control + L 9 more times to apply what I just had copied as a new frame AFTER my current frame. You should now have a total of 10 frames of the name (text).

19. Go to your tag animation, Go to Edit - Select All .... Edit - Copy.... Edit - Paste - Paste as New Animation. Minimize the original tag.

20. Click on the name file, then go to Edit - Select All.... Edit - Copy. Click on the tag then go to Edit - Select All.... Edit - Paste Into Selected Frame then position the text where you want it. You will see the name show up in the same location on each frame. If you are happy with it, save the tag as a .gif and you are done!!

TUTORIAL: End of Autumn Fairy

This is the tag we will be making:

This tutorial is written by me. Any similarities to any other tutorial is totally coincidental!

Beginner to Moderate level
Some knowledge of PSP is needed

Materials Needed

Paint Shop Pro (used Version 9, but can be done on any version) -- provide link
PTU kit for Sizzel's Designs ("End of Autumn - Tagger Size") which can be bought at Katelynn's Designs -
Tube: "Gold Butterfly Fairy" by Ronne Barton (used with MPT license, which can be purchased HERE)
Tag Template #78 from Simply Devilish Scrapz
Chelle's Mask #59

Filters Needed:
Weave (comes with PSP)
Blinds (comes with PSP)
Halftone (comes with PSP)
Xero Porcelain - Freeware
Eye Candy 4000, Gradient Glow

Fonts used:
FFF Fuego (for copyright info)
Black Rose(for name/text)

Directions

1. Open PSP, then open Tag Template. Shift + D to make copy of template, then close original. Then, on the copy we have open, either delete or close off the top layer that has the designers info on it.

2. From your tube, pick a dark color for your foreground and a lightish color (or contrasting color) for the background.

3. Go to "Multi Rectangle" layer, make active. Go to Selections - Select All.... Selections - Float .... Selections - Defloat. You should have marching ants around the rectangles. Take Paper2 from the kit and copy & paste as new layer, putting it above the "Multiple Rectangle" layer. Rename "Rectangles". Go to Selections - Invert. Click on the Delete Button.

4. Keeping marching ants around your rectangles, go to Selections - Invert then go to Effects - Texture Effects - Weave and use the following settings:

With the marching ants still around your rectangles, apply the following drop shadow (remember these settings as we will be using them throughout the tutorial for the drop shadow):

Vertical: 2
Horizontal: 1
Opacity: 40
Blur: 15.00
Color: Black
Shadow on New Layer: Unchecked

Go to Selections - Select None (to get rid of the marching ants).

5. Go to "Rectangle 1" layer, make active. Go to Selections - Select All.... Selections - Float .... Selections - Defloat. Take Paper12 from the kit and copy & paste as new layer, putting it above the "Rectangle 1" layer. Rename "Frame". Go to Selections - Invert. Click on the Delete Button. Go to Selections - Invert, then go to Effects - Textures - Blinds and use the following settings:

Apply previous drop shadow. Go to Selections - Select None (to get rid of the marching ants). Close out "rectangle1" layer.

6. Go to "Rectangle 2" layer, make active. Go to Selections - Select All.... Selections - Float .... Selections - Defloat. Take Paper8 from the kit and copy & paste as new layer, putting it above the "Rectangle 2" layer. Rename "Pic Background". Go to Selections - Invert. Click on the Delete Button. Go to Selections - Select None. Close out "rectangle2" layer.

7. Copy your tube, paste as new layer right about the "pic background" layer. Resize it by 115% (be sure "Resize All Layers" is UNchecked). Center your enlarged image the best you can over the "pic background" layer. Rename this "enlarged tube". When you are pleased with your centering, go back to "pic background" layer, make active, then go to Selections - Select All.... Selections - Float .... Selections - Defloat. Then click back onto the enlarged tube layer, then go to Selections - Invert, then click on the Delete button. Then, with the marching ants still there, go to Selections - Invert, then go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur ... Radius: 10.00 and click OK. Right click on the "enlarged tube" layer in the Layer palette, go to Properties and use the following settings:

Apply the previous drop shadow settings, then go to Selections - Select None.
Apply the previous drop shadow settings on the "pic background" layer as well.

8. Take your tube, copy and paste as new layer on to your template, then move to top. Rename "tube" layer. Center over the "pic background" layer, resize as needed (I resized 90%, be sure "resize all layers" is UNchecked). Apply Xero Porcelain with the following settings:

Apply drop shadow with these settings:

Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 50
Blur: 18.00
Color: black
Shadow on New Layer: UNchecked

9. Go to "Word Art" layer, make active. Go to Selections - Select All.... Selections - Float .... Selections - Defloat. Go to Layers - New Raster Layer. Flood fill the letters with one of the colors you choose (either foreground or background - I am using color #3d2826.) Close out the "wordart" layer. With the New layer with the wordart active, go to Effects - Artistic Effects - Halftone and use the following settings:

Go to Selections - Select None.

Apply Eye Candy 4000 - Gradient Glow with the following settings:

Glow Width: 4.00
Soft Corners: 25
Overall Opacity: 100

and here is how you will set the colors on the "color" tab:

Apply drop shadow with the following settings:

Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 100
Blur: 3.00
Color: black
Shadow on New Layer: UNchecked

10. Click on the "Backing" layer, make it active, then copy and paste Paper6 just above that layer. Rename "mask layer". Open mask in PSP, then minimize. Go to Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image and use these settings:

Go to your layer palette, right click on the "mask layer" layer, then go to Merge - Merge Group.

Apply following drop shadow to the masked layer:

Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 50
Blur: 3.00
Color: black
Shadow on New Layer: UNchecked

11. Copy Doodle 1 from Kit, paste to just under the tube layer. Place as you like, then apply the first drop shadow settings. Copy the original doodle 1 again, paste as new layer on the template. Rotate 25 degrees to the right (be sure "all layers" is unchecked). Move it around so it is under the rectangles and word art (see my tag for idea). Use the following drop shadow settings:

Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 50
Blur: 18.00
Color: black
Shadow on New Layer: UNchecked

12. Copy "jar" element, paste as new layer onto template, then move to top. Resize to 40%, then place as shown on the tutorial. Use following drop shadow settings:

Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 50
Blur: 3.00
Color: black
Shadow on New Layer: UNchecked

Continue to decorate the tag with butterflies, as desired.

13. Resize all layers to 500 pixels x 417 pixels. Sharpen any layers that are a bit blurry.

13. Apply copyright information, scrapper information, tagger information. When happy with tag, Merge Visible, save as .jpg.

14. Apply name using the foreground and background colors you chose at the beginning of the tutorial. On mine, after I applied the actual text, I then applied Eye Candy 4000 with the previous settings, and then modified the colors on the color tab to this:

first box: color #ebe2d6
second box: color #3d2826

and I just fiddled with the boxes til I got a look that I liked.

Then I applied the following drop shadow:

Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 85
Blur: 3.00
Color: black
Shadow on New Layer: UNchecked

Repeat drop shadow.

And we are done.

TUTORIAL: Mulberry Maiden

Moderate level - Some knowledge of PSP is needed.

Materials Needed

Posers from Sabine's Poser Park (portrait47 and woman107)

Filters Needed:

AAA Foto Frame (freeware)
Eye Candy 5 - Impact Gradient Glow

Fonts used:
FFF Fuego (for copyright info)
Avalanche Script TT (for name/text)

1. Open PSP

2. Open New Image, 600x600 pixels, resolution 72.000 pixels/inch, transparent checked

3. Open lace frame 3... copy & paste it as new layer. Resize it 75%, be sure "resize all layers" is UNchecked. Frame should be - for the most part - centered in your canvas. Move it SLIGHTLY to the left. Rename this layer "frame".

4. Click inside of the frame with your magic wand so you will see the marching ants. Go to Selections - Select All.... Selections - Float .... Selections - Defloat, then Selections - Modify - Expand ... choose 10 pixels, then click OK.

5. Open one of the papers in the kit (I chose paper5) and copy and paste as new layer. Move it to just under the frame layer. At this point, if the print of the paper seems too large for the tag, feel free to resize it. (I resized my paper by 85%.) Go to Selections - Invert. Click on the Delete Button. Do NOT get rid of the marching ants yet. Rename this layer "frame paper".

6. Open the image you will be using for inside the frame. (I am using portrait47 for this part). Copy & paste it as new layer, then move just under the frame but above the paper layer. Resize so that it looks nice and fits well inside the frame area. (I needed to resize my poser by 65%.) Be sure "resize all layers" is UNchecked when resizing. When you are happy with how it looks inside the frame, click on the delete button. Go to Selections - Select None (to get rid of the marching ants). Add drop shadow to image using these settings:

Rename this layer "frame image".

7. Go to your layer palette. Click on the locks for these 3 layers: frame, frame image, frame paper. Be sure they have the same number next to the locks, like this:

This way, if you move one of those layers, it will stay together.

8. Cllick on the 'frame paper' layer to make it active and change to opacity to 50. Then click on the 'frame image' layer to make it active. Right click on it in the layer palette, go to Properties and use the following settings:

9. Open on of the papers in the kit (choose one that doesn't have a lot of obvious design - I chose paper1.) Copy & paste as new layer, move to bottom. Resize by 75%, "resize all layers" UNchecked. Rename this "background paper".

10. Open mask in PSP then minimize. Go to Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image and use these settings:

Go to your layer palette, right click on the background paper layer, then go to Merge - Merge Group.

You should now have something like this:

11. Copy your other tube (I am using woman107 here) and paste as new layer. Move to top. Resize as needed. After resizing, sharpen if needed (sometimes image will get slightly blurred if resized quite a bit.) Move the image towards the right side of frame (see completed tag for idea of what I mean.) Use drop shadow settings we used before, except change blur to 22.00.

12. Choose a darker paper from kit (I chose paper10), copy and paste as new layer. Resize by 75%, "resize all layers" UNchecked. Rename this 'background'. Apply Xero Fritilliary filter with following settings:

Granularity: 6
Aggression: 30
Tesselation: 48
Variation: 40

13. Open flowers1 from kit. Copy and paste as new layer. Move up to just above the frame layer. Resize by 50%, "resize all layers" UNchecked. Rename layer 'flowers 1". Move to the right of the frame, behind the girl on the chair (see finished tag for comparison.) Add drop shadow from before, with blur set at 15.00.

14. Copy and paste heartstring element. Move to under the 'frame paper' layer. Go to Image - Mirror. Move it around so that the frame is in the center of this element. Use last used drop shadow settings.

15. Open heart1 element. Copy and paste as new layer. Resize by 50%, "resize all layers" UNchecked. Rename 'heart'. Move to the top. Move heart around so that it is on the left area of frame. Duplicate heart (go to layer palette, right click on the heart layer, then go to Duplicate.) Resize by 50%, "resize all layers" UNchecked. This will already be named "Copy of heart". Go to Image - Mirror, then move it near the larger heart, slighly to the right. Use drop shadow, applying last used settings on both hearts.

16. Make 'background" layer active. Go to Image - Resize and use the following settings - be sure that "resize all layers" is checked. Go to Filters Unlimited 2.0 - Paper Textures - Canvas, Fine with the following settings:

Intensity: 110
Lightness: 110

17. While still on the background layer, go to the AAA Foto Frame Filter and use the following settings:

18. Add any other elements you would like at this point.

19. Add copyright information, scrap designer information, tagger watermark.

20. Merge - Merge All Visible. Save as .jpg.

For name/text

1. Using Avalance Script, size 62, stroke width 1.0 ...foreground #5e4133, background #dcbcc7, write your name and place it where you would like it. I am placing mine in the lower left side.
When satisfied, convert to raster. Use Eye Candy 5 Impact Gradient Glow with the following settings:

Then apply a drop shadow with the following settings:

Then go to Edit - Repeat Drop Shadow.

And you are done!!

Tube of choice (I am using posers that came with scrap kit)

Filters Needed:
Weave (comes with PSP)
Blinds (comes with PSP)
Eye Candy 5 Impact - Gradient Glow
Xero Fritilliary (freeware)

Pixelette (for copyright info)
Waugh (for name/text)

1. Open PSP

2. Copy Template then click on Shift + D to duplicate entire template. Close original template.

3. Go to Paper #17 from the kit - Copy, then go to the template and Paste as New Layer. Rename it Paper 17. Resize (Image - Resize) 78%, All Layers UNchecked.

4. Make large circle layer active then go to Selections - Select All.... Selections - Float .... Selections - Defloat.
You will now have marching ants around the pink circle. Make the Paper 17 layer active by clicking on it.

5. Selections - Invert. Click on the Delete Button. Paper 17 should now be where the pink circle now is/was.
Go to Selections - Invert. Now the inside of circle is active again.

6. Go to Effects - Texture Effects - Weave and use the following settings:

7. Do drop shadow on the Paper 17 circle with these settings (which is used often in this tutorial):

9. Copy Paper 10 and Paste as New Layer into the template - move it down to just above the background layer. Rename it Paper 10. Resize (Image - Resize) 78%, All Layers UNchecked.

10. Open Mask in PSP, then minimize. Go to Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image and use these settings:

11. Go to Layer Palette, click on the Group - Paper 10:

12. Then 'right click", go to Merge - Merge Group:

13. Go to template - click on Frame1 and move it to just under Frame 2. Click on Frame 2 layer, then right click, Merge - Merge Down. Now both of the white frame squares are on the same layer. Rename it "frames".

14. In the layer palette, click on the 'Frame Background2' layer. Be sure the "Frame Background 1" layer is right under it, then right click - Merge - Merge Down. Now both of the blue squares are on the same layer. rename it "frame backgrounds".

15. Copy Paper 04, then Paste as New Layer on the template. Move it to just above the "frame backgrounds" layer. Rename it Paper 4. Resize (Image - Resize) 70%, All Layers UNchecked.

16. Go to the "frame backgrounds" layer - make active - then go to Selections - Select All.... Selections - Float .... Selections - Defloat.

17. Click on Paper 4 layer, then go to Selections - Invert. Click on the Delete Button. Selections - Select None.

18. Click on the left square to make it active then paste one of your tubes onto your template (I used Poser 2). Place it over the left square frame. Get it to how you want it to look. Then go to Selections - Invert. Click on the Delete Button. Selections - Select None. Rename this "left square". Right click on the layer in the layer palette, then go to Properties and use these settings:

19. Do the same thing for the other blue square and rename it "right square".

20. Click on the left square tube - go to Effects - Xero - Fritilliary and use the following settings:

21. Repeat for the right square tube.

22. Close off the blue "frame backgrounds" layer (put the red 'x' over the eye in the layer palette).

23. Click on the "frames" layer. Go to Effects - Texture Effects - Blinds and use the following settings:

Use the drop shadow settings we used earlier.

24. Click on Word Art Layer - make active. Use Eye Candy Impact 5 - Gradient Glow with the following settings:

(the pink color I used is: #ff6be0)

Use the drop shadow settings we used earlier EXCEPT change the blur to 2.00. Then go to Edit - Repeat Drop Shadow. Go to Effects - Blinds and use the following settings

25. Click on the 'thin rectangle' layer and make active. Go to Adjust - Color Balance - Manual Color Balance. Change it from Gray to Black. Use drop shadow settings from earlier.

26. Click on the "tone" layer and make active. Go to Adjust - Color Balance - Manual Color Balance. Change it from black to white. Change opacity of layer to 65.

27. Copy your other tube and paste as new layer to template - bring to top. Resize (Image - Resize) 85%, All Layers UNchecked. Move to middle (roughly) of template. Apply drop shadow settings.

28. Go to 'dotted circle' layer - make active. Use Gradient Glow settings you use previously EXCEPT change overall opacity to 50, and make the pink outer layer smaller.

29. You should now have something like this:

30. Copy guitar element, then paste as new layer onto template, move just under your main tube. Rotate (Image - Rotate - Free Rotate) to the right by 20, all layers UNchecked:

Move guitar so that the body of it us just under the right square. Use drop shadow settings from before, then duplicate the guitar, and then mirror it (Image - Mirror).

31. Add any other elements you would like at this point.

32. Add copyright information, scrap designer information, tagger watermark.

33. Merge - Merge All Visible. Save as .jpg.

Additional - for name/text

1. Using the Waugh font, black for foreground and #ff6be0 for background, size 56, stroke width 1.0, make the name. Try to center it roughly in the center of the bottom (see tag for idea). Right click on the name, then go to Align Object - Align Horizontal Center in Canvas. This will make sure it is in the center of that particular area. Convert layer to raster.

2. Go to Effects - Eye Candy Impact 5 - Gradient Glow. Use previous settings, changing the Overall Opacity back to 100. Use Drop Shadow with the following settings:

Vertical and Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 85
Blur: 3.00
Color: black
Shadow on new layer: unchecked

3. Go to Edit - Repeat Drop Shadow.

And you are done!!

I am just writing to let you all know that I have joined 2 new creative teams and I'm very excited about this! The first one is Katelynn's Designs Store, which can be found HERE. They have a lot of wonderful designers and beautiful kits so be sure to check them out!

The second one is a scrap designer who is selling some kits at Mistaken Art. Her name is Ruby who goes by the name Designs by Ruby, and she has some gorgeous, creative kits, and I'm really looking forward to creating with them!
